Bedding Plants 2022

A quick rundown of some of the bedding plants that are doing well for me (so far) this year.

Bidens ‘Beedance Painted Red’, is a lovely orange and yellow daisy. It’s a refreshingly wild and natural looking bedding plants, which make a nice change from all of the over compact flowering dwarves that most bedding seems to be. It forms a mass of thin stems, ending in lovely star shaped flowers.

Asteriscus ‘Aurelia Gold’. This is a completely new one on me. Bright yellow daisies on a (so far) relatively compact plant.

Verbena ‘Lanai Raspberry’. A nice red trailing verbena, tends to fade in the sun. Performing well at the moment.

Calibrachoa ‘Cabaret Good Night Kiss’. I have a bit of a love/hate thing with Calibrachoa, they’re fab little plants when they look good, but often seem to run out of steam. Maybe I’m doing something wrong with them? Anyway, this one is doing great for me at the moment.

Surfinia ‘Deep Red’. A nice sized Petunia, big enough flowers to be showy, but not so large that they get destroyed by our unreliable UK summer weather. Also, a lovely red colour, not something you often see in Petunia.

These are all growing in peat free multipurpose compost, with added slow release fertiliser. With luck these will all continue to perform over the summer.
